Behind “Collobject” is the idea of layering. While collages are comprised of thin materials layered on top of each other, this 3D collage separates the layers to create space between the materials. In this way, one can begin to define and connect spaces based on material qualities.
Making a “Collobject” is a bottom up process. The placement of materials and voids create the whole starting at the bottom of the mold and filling it to the top, later removing objects that have created voids.
Different variations can be made by choosing different objects to float in the pouring medium, the shape/complexity of the mold, the type of pouring medium or any number of elements.
