Studying the design of this building was inspiring. There was no aspect of the design that was not completely oriented around the needs of the people, in this case architecture students and faculty. Experiencing our own architecture building every day, knowing exactly what isn’t working for me as an inhabitant of it, I appreciated the amazing attention to detail of what makers need. Their point of placing program according to how warm or cold the students are likely to be, along with their amazing custom lighting system, made it very evident that the designers at OMA had the makers in mind from the beginning (with form and massing design) to the end (with mechanical system design). Hopefully this is something that I will be able to integrate as well.
