Soap Stone

My material exploration started with a fascination of melting material away. During a class brainstorm, a fellow classmate mentioned glycerin as a possible material. I had never heard of it. I didn’t even know it was soap. But I became interested in the interplay between cast-able materials of varying transparencies and permanence – namely soap, wax, and plaster. Two can be melted with relative ease. One is translucent. All flirt with liquid and solid states.
