What if instead of designing a building, then cutting a section through it, then filling it with entourage, we did the reverse? What if we began by designing and representing the events and activities we wanted to enable? The people, animals, plants, events, tools, equipment, furniture, fixtures, products, and other “stuff” that inhabits architecture all speak to not only your vision of program, but also to spatial qualities and relationships. You are building a world, one person, vegetable garden, and robotic pizza machine at a time. For Monday, you should build up a custom library of these “characters” that will inhabit and define your project. Print these out at 1/8″=1′ for Monday; you will use them as part of a section charrette in studio.
