Erin M’s Section Spirit Animals

At the fifth year section show, I was drawn to sections that showed a clear distinction between programs. Although I did not know what the project was about, I could quickly understand that very different activities happened in each space by how they were represented in section. Similar to my design, that involves planned, quiet “cores” with more structured spaces versus open, free simulation spaces, the fifth year sections clearly communicated the experiential qualities and differences between programs. These section spirit animals were bold drawings that emphasized experience and concept over formal building structure. Likewise, I’m striving to clearly communicate my design concept for Friday’s section show. Then, for Tuesday’s mid review I will strive to have several more sections that focus less on concept and more on structure and form.
